Empowering Communities, Preserving Nature in Kenya
Kenya, with its breathtaking landscapes, iconic wildlife, and dynamic urban centers, stands as a beacon of potential in East Africa. However, challenges such as environmental degradation, socio-economic inequalities, and climate change continue to affect communities and ecosystems. GMC is dedicated to addressing these challenges through innovative programs that balance development, conservation, and inclusivity.
Key Focus Areas in Kenya
Wildlife Conservation and Habitat Protection
Kenya is home to some of the world’s most iconic wildlife species. However, human-wildlife conflicts and habitat loss threaten these treasures. GMC’s initiatives focus on protecting critical habitats, mitigating conflicts, and empowering local communities to coexist harmoniously with wildlife.
Over 150,000 hectares of wildlife corridors preserved and 10 community-led wildlife conservation areas established.
Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security
With agriculture forming the backbone of Kenya’s economy, GMC promotes sustainable farming practices, soil restoration, and climate-resilient crops to ensure food security and reduce environmental impact.
Trained 50,000 farmers in climate-smart agriculture and improved yields by 40% in target regions.
Community-Led Water Management
Access to clean water remains a challenge in many parts of Kenya. GMC works to enhance water infrastructure, promote efficient water use, and protect watersheds essential for both people and wildlife.
Built over 300 boreholes and rainwater harvesting systems, benefiting 500,000 people.
